Sugar River Wrestling Places Four in the Top Three of the Raider Scramble

The Sugar River wrestling team had a dual match at Turner High School on December 5th, losing 31-48. Turner won several matches by forfeit.
Wrestling in the 152 lb weight class, Sugar River's Jack Diederich won over Forrest Haasl.
Sugar River's Holden Latsch, wrestling at 160 lbs, won by fall over Shayne Larson.
In the 285 lb weight class, SR's Daniel Enloe won by fall over Dante Colorado.
At 106 lbs, Sugar River's Joe Quaglia won by fall over Cooper Moran.
In the 126 lb weight class, Sugar River's Robert Chenoweth lost by fall to Gavin Campbell.
Wrestling in the 132 lb weight class, Sugar River's Max Gerner won by major decision over Jack Sagaitis.
Sugar River's Trevor Enloe, wrestling at 138 lbs, lost by fall to Trevien Bivens. Enloe also wrestled at 145 lbs and won by fall over Nate Draeving.
Sugar River held their home tournament on December 9th. The Raiders came out with a champion at the 106-weight class.
"Joe Quaglia pinned his way through the tournament. He really has picked up his intensity and is beginning to transition well to the speed of high school," said Coach Pete Swenson. Quaglia (9-2) won round one by fall over Kyle Haldiman of Monroe. In round two, Quaglia won by fall over Evansville/Albany's Nicolas Barmore, and in round three he won by tech fall over Brodhead/Juda's Braden Erb. In round four, Quaglia won by fall over Monroe's Dakota Wickstrum. In the first place match, he won by fall over Nicholas Barmore of Evansville/Albany, and scored 25.50 team points.
The Raiders had two individuals place second with Robbie Chenoweth at 126 lbs and Max Gerner at 132 lbs.
Chenoweth (8-3) received a bye in round one and in round two won by injury default over Monroe's Max Patterson. In round three Chenoweth lost by decision to Evansville/Albany's Austin Schofield, and in round four he won by decision over Evansville/Albany's Nick Wille. In round five, Chenoweth won by major decision over Brodhead/Juda's Jayson Starr. Chenoweth scored 17 team points.
Max Gerner (9-2) scored 16 team points. In round one he received a bye and in round two Gerner won by decision over Monroe's Gabe Witt. Gerner lost by fall to Evansville/Albany's Adam Staver in round three and won round for by fall over Cuba City's Wylie Niles. Gerner faced Staver again in the first place match and lost in overtime.
"Robbie lost a close match in the third round. I believe when he wrestles that guy again, Robbie will come out on top. Max had a good day as well. He lost his championship match in overtime to a wrestler that pinned him earlier in the day. We run a scramble style tournament, so it is possible to lose earlier in the day and comeback to make the finals. Max controlled the finals' match, but was unable to score the first points in overtime. Despite the loss, Max gained some valuable experience and confidence," said Swenson. "Also, Trevor Enloe had a good day at the 138-pound weight class. He only had one loss on the day, and that was a close match in which he held the lead for most of the match."
Wrestling at 138 lbs, Trevor Enloe (10-2) placed third and scored 17 team points. In round one, Enloe won by fall over Cuba City's Corwin Emery, and won by fall in round two over Monroe's Aiden Sweeney. In round three, Enloe won by fall over Mount Horeb's Gabo Schloesser, and in round four he lost by decision to Matt Kostroun. Enloe won the third place match by fall over Monroe's Aiden Sweeney.
Drew Enloe (0-5), wrestling at 145 lbs, placed eighth and scored 1 team point. Enloe fell to Evansville/Albany's Nolan Kicmol in round one, and fell to Dodgeville's Riley Crook in round two. In round three, Enloe fell to Brian McCullough of Brodhead/Juda and lost by fall to Monroe's Grant Gogin in round four. In the seventh place match, Enloe fell to Dodgeville's Dylan Harpold.
Jack Diederich (6-5) placed sixth and scored 7 team points wrestling at 152 lbs. In round one, Diederich lost by fall to Dodgeville's Noah Durst. In round two, he won by fall over Evansville/Albany's Mason Young and lost by fall to Monroe's Travis Wolf in round three. In round four, Diederich won by fall over Monroe's Logan Clark and in the fifth place match he lost to Cuba City's Tyler Reuter.
Wrestling at 285 lbs, Daniel Enloe (1-6) placed sixth and scored 3 team points. In round one, Enloe lost by fall to Evansville/Albany's Branden Lange, and in round two he lost by fall to Monroe's Tyson Welsch. In round three, Enloe lost by fall to Mount Horeb's Max Olinger and he lost by decision to Dodgeville's Shelby Jones in round four. In round five, Enloe lost by decision to Troy Leibfried of Cuba City.
"Overall, as a team, I am pleased with our efforts and intensity, but we need to continue on mat awareness of situations and knowing how much they can really push themselves for six minutes," commented Swenson.
On December 16th the team will compete at an invitational at Richland Center and on December 29th and 30th head to the UW-Oshkosh campus to compete in an invitational.
