The Monticello boys basketball team lost to host Benton on November 30th, 34-64.

The Ponies were first to score, but Benton went on a 7-0 run shortly after that and the Ponies could get no closer than 4 the rest of the game.

Reece Rufer scored 15 points and had ten rebounds to lead Monticello. Jon Errthum put 8 on the board and had six rebounds, while Cade Righter scored 6 points and pulled down four rebounds.

The Ponies jumped out to a 9-point lead early in the game against the Albany Comets on December 8th, and stretched it out to a 29-12 lead at the end of the first half. During the second half the teams were pretty evenly matched and Albany could get no closer than 6 points. With 5:24 left in the game, the Ponies went on a 12-0 run to win the game, 49-31.

The Ponies Reece Rufer led the scoring with 20 points and he had nine rebounds. Jeffery Ace scored 13 points and had five rebounds while Jon Errthum put 8 on the board and had five rebounds.

Monticello played at Black Hawk on December 12th and will host Pecatonica on December 15th. They’re 1-0 in the Six Rivers South.
