November 23, 2017

On November 14th, the Monticello Ponies played their first varsity game in two years losing at Brodhead, 38-55.

“Our girls were very excited to be back playing varsity.  We came out very tense and struggled,” said Coach Mark Gustafson.  “We played much more composed and relaxed in the second half and did some good things.”

At the half, the Ponies were down, 8-36. They outscored Brodhead in the second half, 30-19, however it was not enough to pull out the win.

Allysen Noriega led Monticello with 11 points, two of which were three-pointers. Mackie Errthum scored 8 points and had 13 rebounds, while Hannah Zanow scored two three-pointers for 6 points. Abby Wicker had 11 rebounds.

The Ponies host New Glarus on Saturday, November 25th and play at Benton on November 28th.
