Lady Knights Lose Close Game to Darlington

The New Glarus girls basketball team played at Darlington on Friday, November 17th. Coach Kim Burton commented, “Despite losing 69-81, the Lady Knights showed a lot of heart and perseverance throughout the game. Darlington came out and played an aggressive 1-3-1 defense, and a very uptempo game and shot an outstanding percentage.”
The Lady Knights were down 30-51 at halftime, but clawed their way back within nine points with four minutes left in the game.
Senior Willow Lee scored a career high 28 points and had nine rebounds while Julia Barnaby scored 21 points and had ten rebounds. Freshman guard Jaylynn Benson was also in double digits, with 13 points in her first Varsity contest.
“The entire team played hard and played together for the entire game...making their fans very proud!” finished Coach Burton.
The team hosted Columbus on November 21st before playing at Monticello on Saturday, November 25th.
