Joanne R. Cate

Joanne R. Cate, age 80, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at her home. She was born on May 26, 1937, in Madison, WI, the daughter of Byron Ace and Regina Egan.

Joanne graduated from Oregon High School in 1955, and on August 13, 1955, she was united in marriage to Paul Cate at the Grace United Methodist Church in Belleville. Joanne worked as a bookkeeper for the family business and also cleaned homes. She was very involved in her church, Grace United Methodist, playing piano and organ for services, singing in the choir, and teaching Sunday School. Joanne also loved to ride her bicycle. Most of all she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Joanne is survived by her husband, Paul Cate; mother, Regina Ace-Koselke; sons, Paul (Joan) Cate Jr., Eugene (Lori) Cate, and Brian Cate; grandchildren, Tyler (Kristen) Maggie, Andrea (Kevin), Nicole (Trevor), Dannielle (Allen), Steven (Rachel), and Josh; great-grandchildren, Peyton, Logan, Paige, Emily, Braxton, Bailey, and Loviala. She is further survived by her siblings, Darlene (Chuck) Orvold, Darrell (Arlene) Ace, and Jennifer (Ann Cunningham) Cox.

She was preceded in death by her father, Byron Ace; and stepfather, Gene Koselke.

A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at the Grace United Methodist Church, 246 W. Pearl Street, Belleville, WI, with Pastor George Kaminski officiating.

A gathering of relatives and friends was held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home, 109 Greenway Cross, Belleville, WI.

A memorial fund has been established.
