Monroe/New Glarus Swim Team Participates in Blackhawk Invite

The Monroe/New Glarus Swim Team participated in the Blackhawk Invite on October 14th and finished in ninth place.

The team of Nina Schiro, Maddie Hammer, Anna Newcomer and Cammi Ganshert placed eighth in the 200 Yard Medley Relay with a time of 2:04.97.

In the 200 Yard Freestyle Event, Francesca Schiro placed sixth with a time of 2:09.72. In fourteenth place was Anna Newcomer with a time of 2:18.93. Kendra Wenger placed twentieth with a time of 2:24.52, Linnea Tabaka finished twenty-sixth with a time of 2:33.26 and Dee Delforge placed twenty-seventh with a time of 2:35.83.

Placing fifth in the 200 Yard IM was Maddie Hammer with a time of 2:21.85. Kayleigh Nesbitt placed eighteenth in the event with a time of 2:53.20.

In the 50 Yard Freestyle event, Laurel Houston finished in twenty-sixth place with a time of 29.58, while teammate Anna Latimer placed thirty-eighth with a time of 34.80.

In the 100 Yard Butterfly race, Emily Meritt placed fifteenth with a time of 1:13.55.

Maddie Hammer finished third in the 100 Yard Freestyle, with a time of 56.47. In eighth place was Francesca Schiro, with a PR time of 58.32. Cammi Ganshert finished in fourteenth place with a time of 1:01.34. In sixteenth place was Megan Benzschawel with a PR time of 1:01.77. Laurel Houston finished in twenty-ninth place with a time of 1:09.17.

Monroe/New Glarus swimmers participating in the 500 Yard Freestyle were Anna Newcomer, who finished in eighteenth place with a time of 6:13.60, and Linnea Tabaka, who finished in twenty-second place with a time of 6:51.33.

In the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, the team of Cammi Ganshert, Megan Benzschawel, Emily Meritt and Francesca Schiro finished in eighth place with a time of 1:51.22. In seventeenth place was the team of Dee Delforge, Kayleigh Nesbitt, Laurel Houston and Kendra Wenger, who finished with a time of 2:03.72.

In the 100 Yard Backstroke, Nina Schiro finished in sixth place with a time of 1:06.76. Teammates Dee Delforge (1:22.58), Kayleigh Nesbitt (1:23.06) and Anna Latimer (1:27.87) finished in twenty-seventh, twenty-eighth and twenty-ninth place.

The team of Francesca Schiro, Nina Schiro, Cammi Ganshert and Maddie Hammer placed sixth in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, with a time of 3:58.17. Placing fourteenth in the event was the team of Anna Newcomer, Kendra Wenger, Megan Benzschawel and Emily Meritt with a time of 4:15.80.

“It was a tough day for the MNG swim team at Fort Atkinson,” said Coach Linda Moser. “The girls didn’t see the results they had hoped for, yet they know the tough practices will get them to be where they want to be at the end.”

The team had their last dual of the season at Milton on October 17th, and will swim in the Hillmen Invite at Platteville on October 21st.
