Janice A. Gnadt

Janice A. Gnadt, née Boley, passed peacefully at home on September 22, 2017, at age 60, after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Jan is predeceased by her mother, Lorna Boley. One of her greatest sorrows was the unexpected passing of her daughter, Kendra Kuenzi, in 2013.

She is survived by her father, Merlin Boley; husband, James; daughters, Tina (Chad) McPherson and Jody (Matt) Scott; grandchildren, James, Nicole and Christopher Kuenzi, and Page and Luke McPherson; siblings, Susan (Gary) Miller, Marcia (Robert) Hartwig, Laurie (David) Hagerman, Dawn (Bill) Gerber and Alan (Sally) Boley; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family thanks the Wilmot Cancer Center and Hospice of Rochester for their compassionate care through Jan's illness.

Jan was born in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and graduated from New Glarus High School in 1975. Jan was married to Dennis Kuenzi prior to her marriage to James in 1980. Jan was the bearer of two children, mother of three, and mothered three of her grandchildren. In her younger years, Jan competed and excelled in sports - track, volleyball, basketball, softball, and bowling. Jan was most recently employed at Van Bortel Ford as a parts driver, greatly enjoying the camaraderie of her coworkers and the wonderful customer relationships gained through the years. Previously, Jan also worked for J.C. Plastics, Jamestown Container and Crosman Seed. She also ran an in-home daycare for seven years, caring for nearly 15 children over those years. She loved children and caring for others.

She enjoyed spending time outdoors in hot weather playing lawn games and watching campfires burn down to ashes. Indoors, Jan enjoyed challenging card and board games. Jan was an avid sports fan, following the New York Yankees/Milwaukee Brewers/Chicago Cubs of MLB and the Buffalo Bills/Green Bay Packers of the NFL. Jan and her husband were avid participants of drag racing for the past 20 years, mostly at Empire Dragway but also at other facilities east of the Mississippi, racing nearly every weekend somewhere. They were champions of the Ames Performance Pontiac Nationals at Norwalk, Ohio in 2005 and were featured in Pontiac Performance Magazine in 2006.

More than anything else, Jan enjoyed playing with her children and grandchildren, and loved laughing with her family, friends, and neighbors. Her joy for life was contagious and her can-do attitude will be greatly missed.
