Charles G. Modaff, age 85 of Monroe, formerly of the Monticello area, died Sunday, September 17, 2017, at Monroe Manor. He was born on April 4, 1932, in Lisle, Illinois, the son of Charles and Rose (Kiefler) Modaff.
He graduated from Naperville High School in 1952. Charles married Marcella L. Hahn on August 8, 1953, in Cloverdale, IL. He worked as a dairy farmer, retiring in 2000. Charles was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Albany. He enjoyed playing softball and cards.
He is survived by five children, Thomas (Kristine) Modaff Sr. of Albany, James (Marcia) Modaff of Juneau, WI, Mark Modaff of Oregon, Susan (Gregory) Anderson of Rochester, MN, and Laura (Gary) Stietz of Monroe; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Vincent Modaff of Lisle, IL; sisters, Ruth Anderson of Lisle, IL, and Alma "Babe" McCabe of La Salle, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marcella; grandson, Benjamin Stietz; four sisters; two half-sisters; and a brother.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 21, 2017, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Albany, with Fr. Mick Moon as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery.
A visitation was held Wednesday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home.
