Lake Mills held Belleville to just 83 rushing yards and 88 passing yards on Friday night, resulting in Belleville's first loss of the season. The final score was Belleville 0, Lake Mills 41.
The L-Cats came out on the field hungry for a win, scoring 21 points in the first quarter, and 14 in the second, making the halftime score 35-0. The Wildcats kept them out of the end zone in the third quarter, but in the fourth the L-Cats scored on a one yard run for six, with the extra point kick a fail.
Freshman Sawyer Fahey rushed for 66 yards on 15 attempts. Nate Mabis was 8 for 18 for a total of 88 yards. Drew Shrader had 32 yards receiving.
"Although not reflected in the score, we played incredibly well. I am very proud of our team," said Coach Chase Ritter. "Holding one of the top Wide Receivers (Iverson) in the state to his least receiving yards this season was a huge accomplishment. In the end, Dunkleberger was just too much for us to contain. They were a very well coached team and a few too many mistakes on our side was the difference in the game. If our defense continues to give the effort we had on Friday, we'll be very strong during conference play."
The Wildcats head north on Highway 69 on Friday night, to play long-time rivals New Glarus. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m.
