Warriors Defeat Knights

The New Glarus-Monticello Knights played football at Lakeside Lutheran on Friday, September 1st.

The Knights were first on the scoreboard, with a 1-yard run from Tanner Jelle. Just a minute later, Lakeside Lutheran tied it up. At the end of the first quarter, Trent Sigafus kicked a 24-yard field goal to put the Knights in the lead by three. Lakeside Lutheran scored a touchdown in the second quarter to take the lead, but NG-M's Jared Carney scored on a 1-yard plunge to make it 17-14 at halftime.

The Warriors scored 13 unanswered points in the second half to secure their win. The final score of the game was Lakeside Lutheran 27, New Glarus-Monticello 17. Quarterback Jared Carney was 4 for 18 for 50 yards passing.

Tanner Jelle led the Knights with 68 yards on 17 carries.

Defensively, junior Pat Craker led the team with nine tackles, and Jon Errthum forced a fumble and recovered a fumble along with two tipped passes.

On Friday, September 8th, the Knights host Mauston. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m.
