Florence L. Voegeli

Florence L. Voegeli, age 94 of New Glarus, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2017, at the New Glarus Home. She was born on November 7, 1922, the daughter of Peter and Louise (Ott) Klassy in New Glarus.

On June 18, 1943, she was united in marriage to Earl F. Voegeli at the Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glarus. Florence was a farm wife and homemaker, she and Earl raised purebred Brown Swiss cows until retiring from farming in 1987. She was a lifelong member of the Swiss United Church of Christ. Florence enjoyed gardening, playing cards and bingo, old time music, and dancing. She loved family gatherings and spending time with her sister, Leona, and aunt, Marie.

Florence is survived by her three children, Gerald (Pat) Voegeli, Linda Voegeli and Ruth Ann Pauli; three grandchildren, Troy (Julie) Pauli, Amy (Shawn) Batka and Michael (Riza) Voegeli; and great-grandchildren, Austin, Alex, Sarah, Ashley and Zoe. She is further survived by her sister-in-law, Eleanor Klassy; aunt, Marie Reinhardt; and three nieces, Karen Nelson, Juanita Harbort and Lynette Lundin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl; brother and sister-in-law, Alvin and Elva Klassy; brother, Marvin Klassy; sister and brother-in-law, Leona and Alvin Schulz; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Olga and Wilbert Hess; son-in-law, Steve Pauli; and a granddaughter, Lori Voegeli.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at the Swiss United Church of Christ, 18 Fifth Avenue, New Glarus, WI, with the Rev. Kim Moeller officiating with burial in the Swiss Cemetery in New Glarus.

Relatives and friends called from 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday, at the Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glarus.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staffs of Monroe Clinic Hospital and Hospice, Glarner Lodge and New Glarus Home.
