The Wilhelm Tell Drama has been presented on Labor Day weekend in New Glarus since 1938. Since 1953, the production has been staged at the Tell Grounds on CTH W, east of the Village of New Glarus.
The Wilhelm Tell Festival kicked off on Friday night, September 1, 2017, with the Lanternenzug - Children's Lantern Parade and Kinderchor event. On Saturday and Sunday the Wilhelm Tell Play was presented at the Wilhelm Tell Grounds. Saturday night was the Yodel Showcase, held on the Swiss Church lawn, and featured yodelers of all ages as well as performances by the New Glarus Yodel Club and the Mannerchor. Wrapping up Saturday night was a Street Dance with the Zweifel Brothers performing. Sunday was Art in the Park and the Friends of New Glarus Public Library Annual Book Sale.
