Wildcats Victorious Over Bulldogs
August 31, 2017
The Belleville Wildcats hosted the Boscobel Bulldogs on Friday, August 25th, and won the football game 45-12.
"Our starters came flying out of the gate once again," commented Coach Chase Ritter. "Dalton Fahey started the game off with a huge interception returned for a touchdown and from there it was all over. Our offense moved the ball up and down the field at will. Defensively we were very strong."
Fahey's interception resulted in a 57-yard run, and came with almost six minutes left in the first quarter. Less than two minutes later, Fahey scored again, off a pass by Quarterback Nate Mabis. With 41 seconds left in the first quarter, QB Mabis rushed for 65 yards to score a touchdown. Both extra-points were scored by Cody McMillan and a two-point conversion was successful.
The Wildcats scored early on in the second quarter, with a seven-yard run by Luke Kelly. Boscobel then scored their first touchdown, but their two-point conversion failed. Late in the second, Cody McMillan kicked a field goal and with that, the half time score was Belleville 32, Boscobel 6.
Mike Bracken took over at QB in the third quarter, and passed to Drew Shrader for a six-yard gain and a touchdown. Freshman Sawyer Fahey ran for seven yards to score Belleville's final TD of the game with less than two minutes left in the third.
Boscobel scored a TD in the fourth, but once again, their two-point conversion failed.
Quarterbacks Nate Mabis and Mike Bracken passed for 46 and 40 yards, respectively.
Leading the team in rushing was Sawyer Fahey, with 74 yards. Luke Kelly was right behind him, with 73 yards rushing and Nate Mabis had 65 yards rushing.
Dalton Fahey led the team with 46 yards receiving, while Isaac Morrick had 23 receiving yards and Sawyer Fahey had nine receiving yards.
"I am very happy with my team's performance," said Ritter. "But the competition is going to get a lot better and so we're going to need to step it up."
