Dean Streiff Retires From Wilhelm Tell Play

Dean Streiff will retire from performing in the Wilhelm Tell Play following the Sunday, September 3rd, performance.

"I tried to quit once, but they wouldn't let me!"

When Dean Streiff says his last line, "the tyrants" as Werni The Hunter in this weekend's annual Wilhelm Tell Play, it will end Streiff's once-a-year acting gig, which began in 1938 as a Choir Boy. As was the case with many of the actors and actresses in the Tell Play, Streiff grew into his role as Werni.

Many of the local amateur actors and actresses start out in the mob scene, sometimes as babies held in their mother's arms, as they take to the outdoor stage each Labor Day weekend. For the boys, they often begin as Goat Boys, work up to...
