Robert Wayne Steinmetz, 64 of Baraboo, passed away on Monday, August 7, 2017, at the New Glarus Home in New Glarus. Bob was born on January 10, 1953, to Glen and June Steinmetz in Fort McCoy.

Bob grew up in various locations across Wisconsin and Illinois. He worked in construction doing carpentry, some manufacturing jobs and retired from Grede's Foundry, where he was a fork truck driver. He had a passion for old cars and was routinely found hanging with the Dells Area Cruisers car club.

Bob is survived by his children, Michael (Abby) Steinmetz, Brandon (Teresa) Steinmetz, Steven (Jeni) Weisheit, Brian Peterson; grandchildren, Lilian, Kaleb, Angelina, Dakota, Jaden, Faith, Brian, Azik, Aiden, Sayje, Willy, Alexa, and Jozef; as well as his brother and sister, Dale (Connie) Steinmetz and Shirley (Cale) Good. He is further survived by many nieces; nephews; other relatives; friends; and his dog, "Dusty."

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and June Steinmetz; and his favorite cat, "Kitty."

A celebration of life will be held at Devil's Lake State Park on the South Shore on August 20th, from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Specific location on the South Shore is TBD. Signs will be posted day of.

The family would like to extend a thank you to the entire staff at the New Glarus Home in New Glarus for their compassionate care. A special thank you is extended to Stacy at the New Glarus Home, for the kindness and deep caring she showed to him during his stay.
