The New Glarus Police Department received information on June 21, 2017, regarding an alleged sexual assault that occurred in the Village of New Glarus from a nearby county human services agency. According to the report, the suspect involved inappropriately touched a female juvenile at his home on different occasions.

Due to a potential professional conflict of interest with the New Glarus Police Department, the Dane County Sheriff's Office was requested to lead the investigation. Subsequently a Dane County Detective was assigned to assist with the case.
