"Stepping On" Falls Prevention

Among older adults, falls are the leading cause of injury, hospital admissions for trauma and death. Many older people have had a fall that may have shaken their confidence and may have resulted in an injury.
More than one third of adults, age 65 and older, fall each year. Of those who have fallen, 35 percent have become less active. Preventing falls and regaining confidence is vital in maintaining personal independence.
