Downtown Area Road Closures During New Glarus' 28th Polkafest

The New Glarus Roger Bright Polkafest, one of the community’s longest running festivals, will draw visits to downtown New Glarus from Friday, June 9th, through Sunday, June 111th. In addition, the 6th annual Beer, Bacon & Cheese event will be held on Saturday, June 10th, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Polkafest hours are as follows: Friday, June 9th, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m .; Saturday, June 10th, from 11:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m .; Sunday, June 11th, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the New Glarus Hotel.
Please make note of the following road closures prior to traveling around downtown New Glarus during Polkafest weekend:
1st Street (between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue) will be closed Thursday morning, June 8th, starting at 3:00 a.m. until Monday, June 12th, at 12:00 p.m.
5th Avenue (between Railroad Street and 3rd Street) will be closed Saturday morning, June 10th, starting at 3:00 a.m. until Saturday, June 10th, at 7:00 p.m.
2nd Street (between 4th Avenue and 6th Avenue) will be closed Saturday morning, June 10th, starting at 3:00 a.m. until Saturday, June 10th, at 7:00 p.m.
For Saturday, June 10th only, 5th Avenue and 2nd Street will be used as part of the Beer, Bacon & Cheese event.
For the New Glarus Area EMS Open House 4th Avenue between 3rd Street and 5th Street will be closed starting at 6:00 a.m. for the start of the 5K race, after which the barricades will be moved back the EMS driveway to reopen 5th Street. The remaining portion of 4th Avenue (from 3rd Street to 4th Street) will remain closed until 12:30.
