Monticello Dairy Queen Candidate
June 1, 2017
My name is Lindsey Pence and my parents are Brian and Donna Pence. I have had the pleasure of growing up in Monticello, Wisconsin, and getting the experience of a rural farming community. I am currently a sophomore at Monticello High School. I am involved in FFA and FCCLA, along with many other clubs. I am an active member in many of these organizations and have competed in speaking competitions throughout my years as a member. In some of these competitions I was able to advance by making it to state level. This year I am honored to be serving as the sophomore class president and the 2017-2018 FFA Vice President. I also enjoy playing sports, showing cattle, working and volunteering.
I grew up spending countless hours on my neighbor's dairy farm. In my younger years it was simply to enjoy the newborn calf or kittens that had just been born. This is where I developed my love for agriculture. My neighbor and her daughters introduced me to the Dairy Queen organization. They helped me understand I could share my passion of agriculture with the community. I really understood what being a Dairy Queen was all about when I got invited to attend a Dairy Queen Breakfast where my neighbors were being honored. It was that day as I listened to the Dairy Queens and felt the excitement in the air that I realized I wanted to be a part of the Dairy Queen family.
Becoming Monticello's Dairy Queen would be a great honor. It would give me the chance to share my passion for agriculture and inspire others like it did for me. It would give me the great opportunity to promote the uniqueness of Green County and the agriculture business of Wisconsin to our community. Being the Monticello Dairy Queen would further my knowledge about Green County and everything it has to offer. It would be a great opportunity to teach others while still continuing to learn and increase my own skills. I would love to have the chance to promote Green County agriculture and tourism.
