The Sugar River Raiders improved to 17-1 this past week, with three wins over tough opponents. They have not lost since their opening game against DeForest back in early April.

On Tuesday, May 16th, the Raiders traveled to Evansville. The game started out rough for the Raiders, who let Evansville score within the first five minutes of the game and held the lead for the rest of the half. Sophomore Sydney Gentilli was able to find the back of the net twice to help earn the Raiders a lead. But within minutes, Evansville capitalized on a penalty kick, tying the game at two. Then, Captain Kalin O'Rourke was able to find the back of the net with a few minutes left in the game. The Raiders beat Evansville, 3-2.

Later in the week, the Raiders found themselves traveling to Portage to take on conference opponent Poynette-Portage. The field conditions were not what they hoped for, and caused the team to struggle. Kalin O'Rourke was able to score a goal in the second half, securing another Raider victory.

On Friday, May 19th, the Raiders played host to Dodgeville-Mineral Point. The ladies started out slow in the first half, only scoring one goal by Sydney Gentilli. The second half proved to be more prosperous for the Raiders, who scored four more goals. Captain Esther Noriega led the team with a hat trick.

The Raiders kick off their post-season action next week, in hopes of returning to the state tournament for the second year in a row. Be sure to come cheer on the team as they start their post-season tournament in the weeks to come.
