Raiders Win Swiss Kick

The Jodlerklub New Glarus sang before the championship game of the 13th annual Swiss Kick. The 13th annual Swiss Kick was held this past weekend in New Glarus. The Raiders kicked off the day with a game against Monona Grove. They won, 3-1, with goals being scored by Brittany Kiefer and Kalin O'Rourke. Before the start of the championship game, the New Glarus Jodlerklub sang the national anthems of both the United States and Switzerland. In the championship game, the Raiders faced the West Salem Panthers. The last time these two teams met, the Raiders defeated the Panthers in the sectional final game to advance to the state tournament last year. The Raiders won 2-0, with goals being scored by Aimee Sies and Samantha Trainor. This victory earned Coach John Ziperski his 300th career win.

Earlier in the week the Raiders were on the road. On Tuesday, May 9th, the Raiders traveled to Columbus to take on the Cardinals. The Raiders defeated the Cardinals, 4-0, in this conference match. Senior Mikayla Cann had two of the team's goals. On Thursday, May 11th, the Raiders traveled to Palmyra-Eagle in a non-conference matchup. The Raiders defeated Palmyra-Eagle, 7-0. Six different Raiders found the back of the net to defeat Palmyra-Eagle. Sophomore Rachael Heittola had two saves.

The Raiders close out the regular season next week. On Tuesday, May 23rd, the Raiders will travel to Watertown Luther Prep. On Thursday, May 25th, the Raiders finish their regular season with a home game against conference rival Lodi. This is also Senior Night for the Raiders, who will be graduating nine players and three managers. Come cheer on the Raiders throughout their postseason.
