May 11, 2017

The New Glarus softball team hosted Belleville on May 2nd, winning 7-0.

New Glarus scored their first run in the first inning, then scored three more in the third and two in the fourth before scoring their final run in the fifth.

“We had six hits only as a team, but we hit the ball well at times,” said Belleville Coach Connie Wunschel. “New Glarus made some good plays. They had two double plays on us in both the fourth inning and the fifth. Line shots caught by the Short Stop, and she was able to catch the runners off base. They played a very solid game.”

Riley Parker, Grace Moen and Maya Kramer each had two hits for the Knights.

Riley Parker pitched the entire game for New Glarus, allowing zero runs and striking out five.

Cassidy Heller took the loss for Belleville, striking out two and giving up 10 hits and six earned runs. Maddie Weber pitched the final 2 1/3 innings, facing 11 batters, striking out four, walking one and giving up two hits and one earned run.

New Glarus headed to Waterloo on May 4th and won, 9-4.

Waterloo scored first, but New Glarus came back with seven runs in the second inning and that sealed the victory.

Ashley Judd, Zoe Moen and Riley Parker all had three hits. Moen had two RBIs, while Parker had one RBI.

Riley Parker pitched all seven innings and struck out three.
