A special thank you goes out to the partners of the School District of Belleville who sponsored the "Big Read" on April 27, 2017, as part of Money Smart Week at Belleville Elementary.

Students in 4K, kindergarten and first grade received lessons on how to be "smart with money."  Mrs. Pam Yoder, District Administrator, was the celebrity reader of the book chosen by the Financial Literacy Awareness Committee of the Governor's Council on Financial Literacy.  Each grade received a follow-up lesson back in the classroom created and presented by Mr. Erik Farrar's high school business education students.

Each student received a book, a bank, and a quarter as part of the event. The book, Just Saving my Money by Mercer Mayer, was donated by William Wilcox, President, CBM Credit Education Foundation, Inc.  Diane O'Connor of Union Bank & Trust gave each student a bank in the shape of a baseball.  Craig Gates, General Manager of Francois Ford, gave each student a quarter to help start filling their banks.  Secretary Jay Risch, of the Department of Financial Institutions (DFI) and David Mancl, Director of DFI's Office of Financial Literacy, were special guests.
