New Glarus Utilities sponsored live performances of "Space Station Conservation" at New Glarus Elementary School to help the next generation of consumers learn about energy conservation and renewable resources in a fun and memorable way.

"Space Station Conservation," an educational, space-themed show from the National Theatre for Children (NTC), follows the adventures of Harmonica Mars, a harmonica-wielding astronaut living in a space station on – you guessed it – Mars. Harmonica is on a mission to learn all she can about energy and renewable resources so she can find and rescue the Energy Kit, a collection of items that will help her conserve enough fuel to make it back to Earth. NTC will provide teachers with digital games and activities to supplement the lessons taught in the 25-minute show.

New Glarus Utilities and WPPI Energy provide these performances to schools at no charge.

"WPPI Energy and its member utilities have been proud sponsors of NTC productions for several years. These productions teach students about energy efficiency in a way that really stays with them," said Beth Carlson, Energy Services Representative. "We get such great feedback from educators about how effectively the program teaches students. Many times, the students take home what they've learned in school and share it with their parents. It's a great way to get the whole family involved in our energy efficiency efforts."
