A new book, The Stories of the Stones by David W. Green, tells some of the history of York Township, in Green County, through the stories of those buried in the Ula, Skartum, and Postville cemeteries.

In 1852, the Ula and Haugen families came from Norway to Albany in Green County. In the spring of 1853, they settled on land in northwestern York Township. The very evening the families arrived on their newly claimed property, Kari Haugen, wife of Ole Haugen, gave birth to a baby girl.
