Parents Who Host Lose The Most

April 27, 2017

Parents Who Host Lose The Most, that’s what the Belleville Police Department and the Belleville Area Cares Coalition wants to remind the families of Southern Dane County as the party season swings into motion. With prom and graduation comes celebration and parties. But today we are reminding adults that a party shouldn’t include supplying or turning a blind eye to kids drinking at your home. If an adult knows, or (in many communities in Wisconsin) is deemed that they should have known that underage drinking is going on at their home they could be liable.

“Providing alcohol to anyone under the age of 21 (except for your own child) is illegal and there might be ramifications in our community,” says Belleville Police Chief William Eichelkraut.

The Parents Who Host, Lose the Most campaign is being pushed right now across the state. “Any awareness campaign to curtail this behavior is important. Especially now during prom season and graduation, which are times to celebrate,” says Teresa Pelton, Co-chair of the Belleville Area Cares Coalition. She adds, “The parents that are asked to host alcohol parties should not be afraid to be the bad guy and say no to booze.”
