Teasdale Appointed To Monticello Village Board
April 27, 2017
The Monticello Village Board met on Wednesday, April 19, 2017.
Early in the meeting, Village President Tere Dunlap nominated John Teasdale to fill the empty seat left when Dunlap was elected President.
The board unanimously approved the nomination and Village Clerk DaNean Naeger administered the oath of office. Teasdale then took his seat at the table.
Dunlap gave board members a packet that included changes in committees, including some dates and times for committee meetings. Also included in the packets were copies of State Statutes regarding Open Meeting and Open Records laws.
Dunlap, Trustee Rene Nicholson and Clerk Naeger were approved for bank signatures for the village. Dunlap and Nicholson will also be auditing the bills for the village.
The board approved a motion to accept an offer from TDS to increase the internet speed at Village Hall to up to 25 megabits per second, at a cost of $69 per month.
A Casey’s charge card was approved for fuel and limited car maintenance items for the village.
The board also reviewed a letter to be sent to Eric Carroll, the owner of the property at 215 E. Lake Avenue. The letter ordered Carroll to “raze the damaged structure and remove all debris including the foundation from the lot.” If Carroll fails to raze the structure or get a restraining order against the village from the Circuit Court, the village may raze the structure and all costs will be assessed against the real estate.
The board went into closed session to discuss “employment, promotion compensation or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility, Police Chief position.”
Upon returning from the closed session the board took a vote on having a background check on the candidates for Police Chief. The motion to approve a background check passed with Dunlap and Trustee Larry Strause voting against it.
With no new business, the meeting adjourned.
