Cassidy Heller connects for a hit!

The Belleville girls softball team hosted Lodi on Friday, April 7th, winning 6-0.

Coach Connie Wunschel said, regarding their first score, "Cassidy led off with a hard hit to left center for a double. Ella sacrificed to move Cassidy to 3rd and Jillian had a base hit to right to score Cassidy."

The team scored again in the third with a lead-off single by Callie Everson to right center. Cassidy Heller was up to bat next, and her hit moved Everson to 3rd base. Ella Campbell had a base hit to score Everson, while Heller stole 2nd base and moved on to 3rd with Campbell's hit. Jillian Michaels' hit to center field sent Heller and Campbell over home plate.

In the bottom of the sixth, "With one out, Anna Nolden got a hit to the right side, Leah Hanna walked for runners at 1 and 2. Callie then smacked her 2nd hit of the game to score Anna. Cassidy then had her 3rd hit to score Leah," said Wunschel. "It was a really good job of both top and bottom of the order getting the hits together!"

Heller led the team with hits – she was 3 for 4, with one double, one stolen base, one run scored and an RBI. Ella Campbell was 2 for 3, with one RBI. Jillian Michaels was 2 for 2, with one stolen base and 2 RBIs. Callie Everson was 2 for 3, with one run scored and one RBI.

"We committed only one error, we had 10 hits, struck out only four times and walked twice. We were putting the bat on the ball well for our first game!" exclaimed Wunschel.

Details regarding Saturday's games at Parkview were unavailable at press time. The team hosted Cambridge on Monday and Marshall on Tuesday and will play at Luther Prep on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
