Despite their cheeky group name, the antics of these six young gentlemen provide a good-natured atmosphere for their electrifying performance. Six Appeal Vocal Band will take the Monroe Arts Center (MAC) stage on Friday, April 21st, at 7:30 p.m., in the Gunderson Stiles Concert Hall. Known for their vivid musical style, unmatched energy, and playful charm, Six Appeal's show will split your sides, feed your musical sweet tooth, and leave you wondering how in the world they pulled it off with just their voices. If you can imagine it, Six Appeal can sing it!
Swearing off instruments, Six Appeal's electrifying a cappella singing spans decades of classic oldies, current chart toppers, and catchy original tunes in the Pop, Country, Classic Rock, Jazz, and Rhythm and Blues music genres. Audiences are always entertained and captivated by their unbelievable vocal dexterity, adventurous song selection, on-stage antics, and energetic choreography.
Six Appeal began as a collegiate hobby in 2006, at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. Performing around campus was a great way to relax from classes, create a new sound on campus, and yes, meet girls. As the group evolved into a professional ensemble in 2010, Six Appeal began to introduce new members, transforming their sound and focus into the current dynamic sextet.
Originally from Kansas, Minnesota, Florida, and North Dakota, the members of Six Appeal are Andrew Berkowitz (vocal percussionist), Michael Brookens (mid-tenor), Nathan Hickey (baritone), Reuben Hushagen (bass), Trey Jones (low tenor), and Jordan Roll (high tenor). Each member is formally instructed in singing and musical composition, have over 70 combined years of musical training and experience, and utilize a diverse arsenal of style and entertainment. They have a passion for spreading their a cappella music to every audience, and an essential aspect of their mission is to empower young singers through their educational outreach program.
In 2012, Six Appeal won the Championship Title at the National Harmony Sweepstakes, the premier American showcase for vocal harmony music, which draws from hundreds of vocal groups from around the country with regional competitions in eight cities. In addition, they have performed nationwide, and sang at the 2013 Allstate Sugar Bowl live on ESPN.
While in Monroe, Six Appeal will conduct two vocal workshops for the Monroe High School (MHS) Fine Arts Festival. The workshops provide an opportunity for students to interact with a professional vocal band where they will have hands-on experiences to develop skills such as critical listening, healthy vocal technique, intonation, and rhythm. The Fine Arts Festival culminates with a performance by Six Appeal in an all-school assembly.
Reserved seat tickets are $25.00 and $20.00 for adults, and $10.00 for students 18 and under. As a bonus, all Six Appeal ticket holders are invited to a free Pre-Concert Party (cash bar) from 6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., in the downstairs lobby of MAC's new addition.
