Green County Veterans Memorial Park Seeks Veterans Names
April 6, 2017

A fundraising dinner, dance, and live and silent auction for the Green County Veterans Memorial Park will be held on Saturday, April 29th, at Turner Hall in Monroe.
The Green County Veterans Memorial Park Committee is seeking names of Green County veterans for the Wall of Honor to be displayed in our Hall of Honor that is being planned this year at the Green County Veterans Memorial Park, located on the corner of State Road 81 and County Road N.
The next phase of the Green County Veterans Memorial Park will include the erection of a brick gazebo-style building honoring all Green County Veterans, complete with a Wall of Honor listing names of Green County Veterans, and honoring four natives of Green County that include General Merrill B. Twining, General Nathan F. Twining, General Don S. Wenger, and General Nathan J. Lindsay. A list of donors to the Veterans Park project will also be included.
"It is not just the veteran that this honor is for. The meaning and honor goes beyond the veteran. It ripples to the families of the veteran," Larry Ayres, President of the GCVMP Committee said.
The committee is seeking names of any veteran who lived in Green County at any point in their life to be recognized on the Wall of Honor. All names of United States military veterans who have served honorably from the American Revolution to the present day are accepted. Donations are necessary to complete this project.
Names can be submitted to William Hustad at (608) 527-2942 or e-mail wfhus1@tds.net; or Alex Olson at (608) 325-9565. You may also apply online at http://www.greencountyveteransmemorialpark.org. County veterans and residents who know a Green County veteran are asked to submit applications for the Wall of Honor. The Green County Veterans Park Committee is proud to honor these men and women who gave service to their country.
