Monticello FFA members have a lot to look forward to, learning of some results from recent competition. FFA members that qualified at the district competition earned the right to compete at the Sectional Speaking Contest on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, in Clinton, Wisconsin. Attending were Sarah Blumer for Creed Speaking, Karly Ready and Erin Lehr for Extemporaneous Speaking, Karlene Walters for Discussion Meet and Parliamentary Procedure, Brittany Disch for Employability Skills and Parliamentary Procedure, along with, Megan Lehr, Marissa Peterson and Madalyn Holtz for Parliamentary Procedure.
At the end of the competition the results came in, and our chapter had a lot to be proud of! Sarah Blumer came in second place for Creed Speaking! Karly Ready, who competed in Extemporaneous Speaking, placed first and will be advancing to State! Also going to state is our Parliamentary Procedure Team with a first place finish as well. We were also proud to mention that our chapter had the highest representation of any chapter in our section. The State FFA Speaking Contest will take place June 13th, during State FFA Convention. Good luck to our competitors!
Also, our chapter had three FFA members, Megan Lehr, Marissa Peterson and Madalyn Holtz, travel to Wisconsin Rapids for the FFA Farm Forum on February 17th-18th. Here, these members attended career workshops that prepared these individuals for various careers in the agricultural industry and learn about various agricultural issues in today's society. Special thanks to the Green County Farm Bureau for sponsoring this trip.
Lastly, during the week of February 20th-23rd, all FFA members celebrated National FFA Week by dressing up for various dress up days, participating in Ag. Olympics and even driving your tractor to school! The final placings for the end of the week were Middle School, Fifth; Freshmen, Fourth; Juniors, Third; Seniors, Second; and coming in First Place was the Sophomores!
Just a reminder that our Annual FFA Banquet will be taking place on April 6th, at 7:00 p.m., in the Rhemstedt Gym. We hope to see you there!
