Have you been on the village board or held any other public office before? If so please describe: I have been on the Village Board of Belleville since 2005.

Why are you running for village board? I have enjoyed being on the board. I would like to be a part to have a say in our local government and I want to represent the people.

What issues do you find most important to the village board? How would you handle these issues? All issues are important when it comes to Village government. I always have had the citizens and the businesses in mind when voting for government and citizen issues.

Any additional comments? Hello my name is Debra Kazmar (61) of Belleville, WI. I am running for Trustee of the Village of Belleville. I have lived in Belleville for 41 years, coming from northern Wisconsin. I attended Pembine schools and also School of Cosmetology in Michigan. My husband’s job brought us down to southern Wisconsin. He was a police officer and chief of police in Belleville for 26 years. I work at Carnes Company in Verona. We have two daughters. Our oldest lives in Eagle River, Alaska, and is a teacher. Our youngest lives in Madison and is a Certified Veterinary Technician. My husband and I have been teaching Hunter Safety in Belleville for 35 years. I have been a Village Trustee since 2005. As a trustee I have been on several committees including Library, Finance and Personal, Police Committee, Community Development Authority, and Seniors. Belleville is a growing community. We are now working on developing our west side, which is taking off for lots of development. Also, we are working on a new library/community center and new housing for the police department. It is always a challenge when budget time comes as we try to keep taxes intact. I would not change a village action that has been acted on. I have enjoyed representing the Village of Belleville and citizens and with your vote I can continue to represent you and the Village. I encourage everyone to get out and vote on April 4th.
