The School District of Belleville offers a variety of Youth Apprenticeship opportunities to our high school students and is a member of the Dane County School Consortium Wisconsin Youth Apprenticeship Program.  As stated by The Department of Workforce Development, "This program is part of a statewide School-to-Career initiative and is designed for high school students who want hands on learning in an occupational area at a worksite along with classroom instruction.  This program combines academic and technical instruction with mentored on-the-job learning."

This school year, ten Belleville high school students are involved in the Youth Apprenticeship program at various locations.  The school district would like to recognize the Youth Apprenticeship employers mentoring our students and their provided area of study: Prairieland Dairy, LLC – Agriculture, Zimbrick – Auto Technician, Bell Brook Labs – Biotechnology, Sequoia Builders, LLC – Construction, Findorff – Engineering, Heartsong Assisted Living – Health Sciences, UW-Madison – Information Technology, Cate Machine & Welding – Manufacturing, and the Humane Society of Greene County – Veterinary Technician. The School District of Belleville is also a Youth Apprenticeship employer for Information Technology.

Mikayla Cann, a Belleville Youth Apprenticeship student tells about the program, "It's a great way to get a jump start on my career and future.  It allows me to work with scientists in a lab environment and perform lab work that I normally wouldn't be able to do until college...I really recommend Youth Apprenticeship to any student interested in learning about their desired career.  I know that choosing to do the Youth Apprenticeship program will benefit me, both as I start preparing for college and as I make my way through college and into the workforce."
