Belleville Science Olympiad Team Takes Third in River Falls
Belleville's Science Olympiad team has had a busy and somewhat unpredictable start to 2017. Between two tournaments and numerous unplanned illnesses, we have continued to do well. Two weeks ago the varsity team went to UW-River Falls and placed 3rd out of 31 teams in our division. This past weekend both the Varsity and the JV team competed against 19 teams in our region, which includes local schools of all sizes.

The JV and Varsity Science Olympiad teams competed against nineteen teams at a regional tournament held recently.
The varsity team earned medals in 14 out of 28 events, which is an increase over last year's medal count of nine. The JV team earned medals in three out of 24 events, which is hopefully enough to qualify them for the state tournament.
Last year by this time the varsity team had earned medals in 18 events and this year we have increased that number to 37. For the next two months my classroom will be filled with kids during their free time preparing for the state tournament, which will be held at UW-Milwaukee, April 7th-8th.
