Mary Lou Bollig

Mary Lou (Fahey) Bollig, age 77 of Belleville, passed away peacefully at home on January 12, 2017. She was born May 28, 1939, at her grandparent's home in Monticello, Wisconsin, to Robert and Palma (Marty) Fahey.

Mary Lou attended Morehead School and graduated from Belleville High School in 1957. On February 7, 1959, she married Duane Bollig at St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church, Belleville. Duane preceded her in death on July 24, 2010. They lived in the Belleville area all of their married lives. Duane and Mary Lou farmed for 33 years and proudly owned a registered Holstein herd. In addition to farming with Duane, Mary Lou worked at Prange-Way until she began her 25 year career at The Bank of New Glarus. She later moved to the branch location, Sugar River Bank of Belleville.

Mary Lou was an active leader of the Dayton 4-H Club. She was on St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church council and taught religious education classes. Mary Lou volunteered her time at the Sugar River Senior Center and St. Francis of Assisi.

Mary Lou's pride and joy was spending time with her family. Many people enjoyed her homemade treats. She loved taking pictures and making photo albums, which contain many memories. She took great pride in her beautiful flower garden which was always colorful, and admired by many. Her home was decorated for all holidays with Christmas being her favorite. She looked forward to visiting with her classmates and the bank retirees at their monthly luncheons. Mary Lou was a loyal Badger and Packer fan. She rarely missed watching a game.

Mary Lou is survived by her loving children, Randy (Clara) Bollig, Julie (Chuck) Maier, Brenda (Gregg) Simpson, Jodi (Bob) Nonn, and Bobbi (Jim) Orvick; 13 grandchildren, Jon (Savanna) Bollig, Katie (Darren) Davenport, Jeremy (Stacy) Argue, Tyson (Tori) Argue, Mitchell (Ashley) Argue, Ashley (Brad) Aschliman, Brittany Simpson, Alyssa Maiers, Westly (Tara) Nonn, Whitney and Jessica Nonn, Bailey and Logan Gable; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her sister, Ruth Ann (Roger) Olson; and brothers, Bob (Jody) Fahey, Jim (Sheryl) Fahey and Rick (Mary) Fahey; sister-in-law, Janice Bollig; brother-in-law, Bob Olson; brother-in-law, Calvin Christen; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mary Lou was preceded in death by her sister, Barb Olson; sister-in-law, Helen Christen; and brother-in-law, Darrell Bollig.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 338 S. Harrison Street, Belleville, at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, January 16, 2017, with Father Mick Moon officiating with burial in St. Andrews Cemetery, Verona. Visitation was on Sunday, January 15, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., and also on Monday, January 16, 2017, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Belleville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church or Agrace HospiceCare.

Mary Lou and the family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Russell Hermus and Dr. James Heun and the staff at Dean Clinic – Hematology & Oncology for all the compassionate care you provided. Also, thank you to Ashley, Lisa and Melissa of Agrace HospiceCare for your comforting care as we could not have made mom's journey at home possible without your help. We also would like to thank family and friends for the phone calls, prayers, flowers and food.
