Tour de Construction
Findorff Shows School District of Belleville Students Real-World Construction
On a cold December day, high school students from the School District of Belleville stepped out of the classroom to tour a construction project. As part of the tour, which was coordinated by local construction company J.H. Findorff and Son Inc. (Findorff), students not only got to explore a project site, but also got to learn about career opportunities in the construction industry involving building information modeling (BIM), robotics, and other innovative technologies.
As both the School District of Belleville and Findorff are committed to advancing the learning of students, activities such as the recent site tour exemplify how the District's efforts support the objectives of Wisconsin Project Lead the Way (PLTW). This non-profit program partners with educational institutions throughout the state to spark students' interests in engineering and science. "Such a partnership has been a major initiative for the 2016-17 school year," said the District's PLTW Administrator, Ed Neumann. "Opportunities like this make it possible for students to experience first-hand what they can do with their educations."
The School District of Belleville and Findorff will be working closely together on upcoming construction work by spring 2017. Various additions and renovations will be underway at the Intermediate, Middle, and High Schools. Efforts will also include expanding the District's Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) curriculum to further support the District's various educational programs.
