Helen Rosa Freitag, age 96 of New Glarus, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2016, at the New Glarus Home. She was born on September 8, 1920, on the home farm near Monticello to her parents, Jacob and Rosa (Zentner) Trumpy.

Helen attended the Dividing Ridge School. On February 17, 1941, she was united in marriage to Ralph Freitag at the Swiss Church Parsonage in New Glarus, and the couple was married for seventy-one years until Ralph's passing. Helen was a farmer's wife and homemaker; she enjoyed baking, crocheting, and raising her chickens. She was a member of the Swiss United Church of Christ and the Meadow Valley Homemakers. After Helen and Ralph moved to town, she worked at the Swiss Aire Motel for several years. Helen also enjoyed dancing, traveling and playing euchre and bingo.

Helen is survived by her sons, Robert Ralph Freitag of New Glarus, WI, and Kenneth Allan (Rebecca) Freitag of Barneveld, WI; daughter, Karen Ruth Clinger of Monticello, WI; grandchildren, Tammy (Bernard White) Clinger of Saginaw, MI, Susan (Mark) Nyhus of Verona, WI, Brian (Carrie Winebarger) Clinger of Jonesburg, MO, Bradley (Rachel) Freitag of Sauk City, WI, Kristine Lee of Reedsburg, WI, Stacey (Dennis) Novy of Wonewoc, WI, and Craig (Amanda Bechard) Freitag of Randolph, WI; ten great-grandchildren, Ryan, Renee, Randy, Mark, Shea, Ryan, Taylor, Clayton, Tessa, and Trevor; three great-great-grandchildren, Cadence, Wesley, and Hunter. She is further survived by her sisters, Marian Karlen and Rosemarie Krupke; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ralph in 2011; aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and a son-in-law, Clyde Clinger.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, November 18, 2016, at the New Glarus Home Chapel, 600 Second Avenue, New Glarus, WI (access via the Elm Drive entrance), with burial in the Swiss Church Cemetery.

Relatives and friends called from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, November 17, 2016, at the New Glarus Home Chapel, 600 Second Avenue, New Glarus, WI (access via the Elm Drive entrance).

The Zentner-Beal Funeral Home of New Glarus is assisting the family.
