CWD Sampling Plan in Place For Southern Wisconsin for 2016-17 Deer Hunting Season
In cooperation with local businesses, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources staff collect deer heads for chronic wasting disease surveillance testing within several counties during the 2016 archery and gun hunting seasons.
Hunter service testing is available throughout CWD affected counties in Southern Wisconsin. If you harvest an adult deer within these counties please consider submitting a sample from any harvested adult deer for CWD testing.
Deer can be sampled for CWD at the following locations:
Columbia County - Lodi Sausage Company and Meat Market, Lodi; and the DNR Wildlife Management Office, Poynette.
Dane County - Stoddard’s Country Grove Market, Cottage Grove; Village Market, Waunakee; Uncle Jimmy’s Deer Processing, Blue Mounds; the DNR sampling station at Norslein’s woodworks, Black Earth; and the DNR South Central Headquarters, Fitchburg.
Dodge County - The 24-hour self-service kiosk at Horicon Wildlife Management Shop, Horicon.
Grant County - Hidden View Butcher, Fennimore; Spring Valley Meats, Cassville; Gracie’s Point, Arthurl; and the 24 self-service kiosk at DNR Boscobel Nursery, Boscobel (beginning November 11).
Green County - Sugar River Taxidermy, Monticello.
Iowa County - Kate’s Bait, Dodgeville; and the DNR sampling station at Eagle Mart Stop & Go, Barneveld (9-day gun deer season only).
Lafayette County - Riecher’s Meat Processing, South Wayne.
Richland County - Natural Bridge Store, Rockbridge.
Rock County - Nature’s Touch Taxidermy, Janesville.
Sauk County - Alive Look Taxidermy, Hillpoint; and the 24-hour DNR self-service kiosk at Prem’s Meats and Catering, Spring Green.
