Controlled Burning in the Village of Monticello
Controlled burning of dry leaves and other non-offensive, dry yard debris is allowed during the periods of April 1st through May 31st and October 1st through November 30th of each year between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. No burning is allowed on Sundays. Such burning must be:
1. Monitored by a responsible person until the fire has extinguished itself completely.
2. Conducted on days when excessive wind or atmospheric conditions will not result in danger to public health and safety.
3. Located off public street pavement or street gutters.
4. Located at least thirty (30) feet from any neighboring property or structures.
5. Not used for incineration of noxious or offensive substances and materials.
