The New Glarus-Monticello Knights traveled way, way up north to play Arcadia Raiders in the first round of the 2016 WIAA State Play-Offs on Friday night. The Raiders finished second in the Coulee Conference. The Knights played hard the entire game, but lost to the Raiders, 34-21.

Arcadia scored twice in the second quarter to take a 14-0 lead before NGM's John Chenoweth passed for 43 yards to Cullen Brooks for a touchdown. Trent Sigafus kicked the extra point. To tie the game at 14, Jared Carney caught a 28-yard pass from Chenoweth and Sigafus' extra point was good. However, Arcadia ran it in from 8 yards out to pull ahead and the score at halftime was 21-14, in Arcadia's favor.

John Chenoweth threw to Jared Carney for a 24-yard gain in the third, and with Trent Sigafus' successful extra point attempt, the score was tied at 21.

Arcadia scored twice in the fourth quarter to seal their win.

John Chenoweth passed for 102 yards, with three touchdowns. Tanner Jelle rushed for 73 yards. Cullen Brooks scored one touchdown with 43 receiving yards and Jared Carney scored two touchdowns with 52 yards receiving.

"Overall, it was a difficult loss as it ended the season for the Knights," said Coach Jeff Eichelkraut. "However, it was a great year that saw the team come together and accomplish a lot."
