Several Wildcat Runners Set Personal Bests
The Belleville Wildcats had a successful meet at Platteville on Saturday. Although the day was cool and wet, many of the team raced to personal records.
Scoring at Platteville separates large and small schools based on last year's high school numbers. This year Platteville also had some course changes due to the rain they've had in the area. Because of this, there was a course record set by Wisconsin Dells.
Noelle Maire took second overall in this race, and first for the small schools division, with a time of 18:52. She was followed by the rest of the varsity runners - Rachel Uebelacker (24:16), Heidi Wegehaupt (24:36), Kalin O'Rourke (24:38), Eve Palmer (24:40), Alexis Walker (24:50) and Britney Markhardt (25:12). These were season personal bests for Rachel, Britney and Alexis.
Girl's Junior Varsity also ran strong races, led by Emma Veeneman with a time of 24:46. She was followed by her teammates, Mili Julian (25:12), Angelina Parisot (25:30), Michelle Ayala (26:37), Clarice Loeffelholz (26:52), Gianna Diaz (30:37), Maya Severson (30:40), Rachel Markhardt (31:48), and Hayley VandeBerg (37:38).
Many of the boys also had great races and many also had personal bests. Caden O'Rourke led the boys and received a ribbon for his 26th place with a time of 18:54. He was followed by Gary Salmela (19:07), Jordan Hosler (19:58), Derek Shrader (20:51), Julian Fullbright (21:12) and Sean Campbell (21:35). These times were personal bests for Julian and Gary.
For the Junior Varsity boys, each runner had a personal best. Evan Reifert led the boys with a time of 19:57, followed by Alan Woller (21:30), Brandon Graves (21:40) and Aiden Pottratz (22:19).
