Swim Team Members Set Several New Personal Records

“We knew it was going to be a tough meet tonight and it was just that,” said Coach Linda Moser, regarding the September 6th meet against Edgewood. “With a score of Edgewood 126 and Monroe/New Glarus 44, one wouldn’t think there was much more to say, but that it is not true.”

Taking first place in the 100 Breaststroke was Maddie Hammer, with a time of 1:16.74.

Skylar Lassen placed second in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:11.20, and second in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:06.82.

Kayleigh Nesbitt beat her personal record 100 Butterfly time by one second, finishing with a time of 1:32.91.

In the 100 Free, Cammi Ganshert set a personal record with a time of 1:09.22.

Anna Latimer took an astonishing three seconds off of her 50 Free time in the 200 Free Relay with a time of 37.58. Latimer also competed in the 100 Backstroke – shaving an incredible five seconds off her time, with a final of 1:37.23.

“There were bright spots tonight and we know we have a lot of work ahead of us to be ready for conference and sectionals. We continue with very tough swims the next few weeks, as we look ahead to prepare for Milton and McFarland. The girls need to believe they can compete with even the top teams and swim with confidence, tonight I am not sure they always believed in themselves...their confidence was shaken...but not for long; we will be swimming harder and tougher as we continue into the season,” Moser said.

The Monroe/New Glarus Swim Team participated in the Elkhorn Invite on Saturday, September 10th.

“The girls swam with much more confidence today,” said Moser. “We had 11 PRs today with Ally Einbeck leading the way.”

The team scored in nine out of 11 events and finished with 152 points, in seventh place out of 12 teams. The team finished just behind the Badger South conference team of Fort Atkinson, and McFarland, another Badger South conference team, won the invite with 532 points. The closest team to McFarland in points was Milton with 288 points.

Ally Einbeck shaved an astounding 10 seconds off her PR in the 200-Meter IM, with a time of 3:29.73. In the 100-Meter Free, she took 4 seconds off, with a time of 1:26.11.

Placing second in the 200-Meter Free was Maddie Hammer, with a time of 2:21.64.

In the 100-Meter Free, Skylar Lassen placed fourth, with a time of 1:05.25. Lassen also swam in the 100-Meter Backstroke, and placed fifth with a time of 1:13.76.

Also participating in the 100-Meter Backstroke was teammate Nina Schiro, placing seventh with a time of 1:14.96.

In the 100-Meter Butterfly, Grace Keith placed eighth, with a time of 1:17.83.

The 200 Free Relay team of Skylar Lassen, Brynn Ritschard, Nina Schiro and Maddie Hammer took second place in the event, and set a PR with a time of 2:01.66.

The Monroe/New Glarus team faced another tough Badger South team, Milton, at the Green County YMCA on Tuesday, September 13.
