Knights Lose to L-Cats

The New Glarus-Monticello Knights played the Lake Mills L-Cats on Friday, August 26th, losing 41-13.

Lake Mills began the scoring in the first quarter, with Ben Dunkleberger running it in for a 21-yard gain. Adam Mitchell kicked the extra point for the L-Cats. NG-M junior Tanner Jelle scored one touchdown during the second quarter on a 2-yard run. The L-Cats answered back with three touchdowns in the second, with the score at 28-7 going into halftime.

It took a number of L-Cats to bring Tanner Jelle down.

Lake Mills scored two more touchdowns in the third quarter to NG-M's one; junior Noah Zimmerman ran for 11 yards to score for the Knights.

Colin Reeson, a senior, had one catch for 36 yards for NG-M. Senior Brandon Winder led the Knights with ten tackles, and senior John Chenoweth intercepted a pass for the Knights. Tanner Jelle ended the game with 120 yards rushing. Noah Zimmerman had 11 yards rushing for NG-M.

"I would say overall, it was a good game for us," said Head Coach Jeff Eichelkraut.  "We learned a lot about ourselves and grew as a team.  We will use this experience to continue to build for the season."

The Knights travel to Wautoma on Friday, September 2nd. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 9th, the Knights will be at home to take on the Lodi Blue Devils.
