Rev. F. Samuel Hunt

Rev. F. Samuel Hunt, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at the New Glarus Home. He was born on September 8, 1929, in Ardmore, OK, to his parents, Foster William and Alice Mae (Williams) Hunt.

Sam served in the United States Air Force in Amarillo Texas from 1950 to 1953. On September 3, 1950, he was united in marriage to Beverly Thornhill at Little Rock, AR. He graduated from Oklahoma A&M, now Oklahoma State University, in 1951. Sam then went on to the Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. After completing his seminary studies, Sam pastored in Texas until 1959 when he was called to Madison, WI, to become the founding pastor of the East Madison Baptist Church, where he served as pastor from 1959 to 1979. Sam also had a radio program on the Christian radio station WRVB, now WNWC, in the 1960's. Later in his life he was an associate of the Moore Funeral Home in Arlington, TX, where he guided and counseled families in their time of need.

Sam is survived by the mother of his three children, Beverly Hunt; children, Ken (Christine) Hunt, Virginia (Bill) O'Brien, and John (Cheryl) Hunt. He is further survived by fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Margaret "Bitty" Rock.

Funeral services were held at 12:00 noon, on Saturday, July 23, 2016, at the New Glarus Bible Church, 207 Sixth Street, with Pastor Tom Schubring officiating with burial with military honors in the Perry Hauge Cemetery.

Relatives and friends called from 11:00 a.m. until time of services on Saturday, July 23, 2016, at the New Glarus Bible Church.
