A golf course in Washington state has roots in Monticello. Gene Lynn, one of the eight founding members of the Sahalee Country Club, graduated from Monticello in 1949 and has spent his life since 1955 in the Pacific Northwest. Lynn commented that he believes he may be the last living member of the original group of eight and that he has fond memories of growing up in Monticello.

Sahalee Country Club hosted the Women's PGA Championship in June.

At the tournament, Brooke Henderson began her week with a hole-in-one that won her a new car. She ended it with her first major championship.
