Green Cares Food Pantry opened in August 2009 to create increased availability to emergency food sources for the growing population of low-income families in Green County. Green Cares, the largest food pantry in Green County, located approximately one mile west of Monticello, is open on Tuesday evenings from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., expanded Tuesday hours from 10:00 a.m.m-7:00 p.m., on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month, Thursday mornings 9:00 a.m. - Noon, and Saturday mornings 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., and will open for emergencies.
