Olga Anton, age 87, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2016, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Monroe, WI. She was born on August 17, 1928, on the family farm in rural Clayton, WI, the daughter of Carl and Anna (Koruc) Fall.

Olga came from a large family and was very close to her seven brothers and two sisters. The family's Russian heritage was –and still is – very important to them. Olga's family attended Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in rural Clayton, and she remembered attending "Russian school" during the summers. Olga grew up loving to bake and recalled baking lots of pies and cakes while home on the farm. She always said that with so many brothers, everything always got eaten – even if it didn't turn out quite right.

Olga attended Jones Creek School, a one-room schoolhouse in Vance Creek Township and then Clayton High School, graduating in 1947. After graduation, Olga worked in Minneapolis and then Barron, WI, until she married George Andrew Anton on August 11, 1951, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Turtle Lake, WI. George grew up on a farm in the Clayton/Turtle Lake area in a largely German community. George's career in the cheese industry took them to southern Wisconsin - first to Platteville in 1954 and then to Monroe in 1962.

George and Olga were members of St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church. Olga was an active member of the VFW Cecil Jones Post 2312 Auxiliary in Monroe. Together George and Olga cheerfully worked at countless Friday night fish fries, Sunday scholarship breakfasts, and other special events at the former VFW post home on Smokey Row. In their retirement, Olga and George enjoyed traveling to different locations across the country for George's U.S.S. Weber naval reunions.

After being a stay-at-home mother in Monroe for several years, Olga worked first for the Sears catalog store and then for the Monroe Clinic. In addition to baking, Olga's hobbies included embroidery, crocheting, and quilting. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and was never happier than in the company of her immediate and extended family.

Olga is survived by her children, David Anton of Monroe and Denise Anton Wright (John) of New Glarus; her granddaughter, Natalie Wright; her sister, Helen (Wilbur) Falkenthal of New Richmond, WI; and four brothers, Matt (Phyllis) Fall of Clayton, WI, Joe (Clarice) Fall of Barron, WI, Peter (Diane) Fall of Clear Lake, WI, and Walter (Sharon) Fall of New Richmond, WI. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, John (Eloise) Anton of Amery, WI; two sisters-in-law, Betty (Glen) Nickell of Lakeville, MN, and Marion (Phil) Stumo of Blaine, MN; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends.

Olga was preceded in death by her husband, George; her parents, Carl and Anna; her sister, Dorothy, who died in childhood; and her brothers, Mike, Elecksey and John.

The family would like to thank the staff at Aster Assisted Living, Pleasant View Nursing Home, and Monroe Clinic Hospice for the excellent care they provided to Olga.

Memorials may be made to St. Victor Catholic School, where Olga's children attended grade school, the National Historic Cheesemaking Center in Monroe, or a charity of the donor's choice.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 30th, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home, 1455 Mansion Drive in Monroe, with a VFW Auxiliary ceremony taking place at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, July 1st, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church in Monroe, with Monsignor Larry Bakke celebrant. A luncheon in the church's Nilles Hall will directly follow the funeral Mass. Burial will take place at a later date in Calvary Cemetery.
