The Belleville Police Department and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources joined together to put on "Cops n' Bobbers." The event was held on June 11th, with over 110 people in attendance at the Belleville Community Park.
The event was for children Pre K – 8th Grade. The children fished with buddies while the smaller children fished from fish pond and colored. The children kept the Wardens very busy with measuring their catches. We had a fishing contest for the biggest and smallest fish. The winners are Judah for a 14-inch carp (biggest) and Dawson with a 3.5-inch bluegill (smallest). The winners received poles and tackle boxes.
The children had a chance to see a rescue boat from the DNR. Belleville Fire Department had a display and their Fire ATV there for the kids to learn about safety. Belleville EMS was on scene to provide any medical attention.
This event was sponsored by Think It Then Ink it, JBM Patrol and Protection, UW Health Belleville, Disch Auto & Towing, Small Biz Resource, LLC, Mike O'Connor State Farm Insurance, Senior Citizen Program of Belleville, Montrose and Exeter, DNR, Landmark Co-op, Belleville Police Association, R&L Acres, Dick and Linda Miller. The UW Health Belleville Clinic made lunch for the children and the Senior Citizen Program of Belleville, Montrose and Exeter, Barb Hillenbrand, and Deb Kazmar provided homemade cookies.
