Monticello's Andy Yaun exceeded expectations at the WIAA Track and Field State Championships, held in La Crosse, Wisconsin, on Friday, June 3, and Saturday, June 4, 2016, at UW-La Crosse.

Yaun went into the 400-Meter Dash finals in Division 3 with a sixth place preliminary finish, which gave him a #8 seed for the finals.

In the finals, Yaun placed fifth, with a final time of 50.97, shaving time off his prelim finish.
