Plans Continue for the 2016 Green County Dairy Days in Belleville

 


Belleville Dairy Days organizers are busy preparing to host Green County Dairy Days, sponsored by the Green County Ag Chest.

“New this year is the Dairy Days Dash 5K Run and Walk,” said Tami Woller, one of the Dairy Days organizers. “Registration starts at 7:00 a.m., and the race will start at 8:00 a.m. at the top of the footbridge in Community Park, and follow the Belleville Triathlon route.”

Other events include the Cattle Show, which will be held at the Green County Fairgrounds in Monroe on Saturday, June 18. Registration is from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., and judging starts at 9:30 a.m.

The Queen’s Banquet will start with Mootails at 9:30 a.m., on Saturday, June 25, at the First United Church of Christ, 130 East Church Street, and brunch will be served at 10:00 a.m.

At 1:00 p.m., the parade will start at the Belleville Intermediate School and proceed to Library Park for the crowning of the 2016-2017 Green County Dairy Queen and Princess following the parade.

At 3:00 p.m., the BriarPickers, a mandolin and violin duet featuring Brian Ray and local musician Paul Kienitz, will play traditional Appalachian-style folk melodies.

Other Dairy Days activities include a pedal tractor obstacle course hosted by members of the Belleville FFA; face painting; cheese tasting and hot sandwiches will be available at the Sugar River Senior Center, 130 South Vine Street; members of the Belleville Busy Beavers 4-H Club will serve ice cream from the Ag Chest trailer; members of the Dayton Dairylanders 4-H Club will serve cheese curds; members of the Friends of the Belleville Public Library will sponsor a cow coloring contest and help you shake cream into butter to taste.
